Markus Varesvuo - White-tailed Eagle in black-and-white

The White-tailed Eagle, or sea eagle as it is called in many languages, is a powerful and majestic sight when gliding up in the air. Descending from the heights requires skill: wind direction and speed define the direction of approach, also the width and length of the open water clearly weigh on the eagle’s mind as it assesses the best angle to come down to catch the fish.

The momentum of its descent helps it start the ascent immediately, with the fish clutched firmly in the powerful talons.
