Alex Mustard - Octopus with fireworks


A veined octopus makes its home in an old clam shell at night, while plankton swirl overhead leaving firework like trails in the water. This species of tropical octopus makes it home in many objects, regularly using shells, discarded bottles and coconut shells.

Location: Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi, Indonesia
