Sandra Bartocha - Coastal forest

It’s been one of my favourite to-go-and-photograph places since many years … the haunted forest (Gespensterwald) at the Baltic Sea coast in Nienhagen. In the past years though … there have been major changes to that area. Although it is a nature reserve (with lot’s of public traffic each day) … they’ve been cutting off a lot of trees (as a legal duty to maintain safety) and let the cut-off trunks laying everywhere (as potential dead wood) …

The result of that is, that there is no visual axis anymore … where you can picture the forest as such … the visual quality of the beautiful grey trunks with no undergrowth has gone … everything that made the Gespensterwald special is not really excisting anymore … it is really a pity.
