Werner Bollmann - Icy Nursery

Every late winter ten thousands of female harp seals gather on the pack ice of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence to give birth. Low temperatures, heavy storms and massive snowfall occur regularly, but with their thick, air-filled coat the pups are well adapted to these harsh conditions. At least much better than the freezing photographers with their fragile equipment.
