Dieter Damschen - Cranes At Night
In October 2008 I had a permit to work in Linum, at Germanys largest sleeping place for cranes.
I guess that about 40.000 of them rested at the place where my blind stood. To work at such a location means that you have to hide in the afternoon, before the cranes arrive, stay there the hole night and leave not until the last crane has left on the next morning. So I spent a lot of nights close to a huge number of cranes. On the 14th of October there was full moon and I spent the night in the blind. With only the light of the moon behind thick clouds I did a lot of pictures showing the cranes in their bedroom.

Dieter, I remember when you kindly showed me this fantastic series in Lünen last year. Same reaction as back then: you're close to portray the essence of the crane and the core of your passion for this fantastic bird. Well done, my friend!!! Keep them coming!

I know there is a suggestion that when sleep does not come you need to count lambs/dogs/whatever-you-like to become sleepy. Put this on your bedroom wall and you have no problem with sleep. Or if not sleep, then counting :-).
