Bruno D'Amicis - Curious chamois

While photographing endangered Apennine/Abruzzi Chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica ornata), an Italian endemic subspecies, during their autumnal rut, I approached this unwary adult female while she was feeding on a sheer cliff. More curious than afraid, she allowed me to take pictures from a very close distance and so I used my 500 mm together with a 2x converter to get some unusual close-ups. I especially like this frame, with her keeping an eye (and two ears!) on me and a mountain peak out of focus in the background.
