Roy Mangersnes - On the edge

A young Polar Bear has probably just been left by its mom after staying with her for nearly three years. Inquisitive like many young animals it comes down to the ice edge to check out these strangers floating on the sea. With no knowledge about the warming seas and melting ice, it observes with curiosity. Soon the changes will be real and the edge will become smaller, and smaller until the ice is all gone around the archipelago. The summer of 2012 resulted in the smallest Arctic Pole ice ever recorded. Already scientist are preparing for another mild winter with sea temperatures around the northwestern coast of Spitsbergen being several degrees above the average.
