Roy Mangersnes - Arctic Blues

I love the Arctic! There, I said it. Well, I guess I am not alone, but I just really felt like saying it out loud. Even when I go to the deserts of Africa or the jungle of South-America I wish I was in the Arctic. It is something about the mood of this vast place, dominated by ice and the color blue... Arctic blues. This image was taken one late evening on a small island infront of the massive Monaco Glacier on Spitsbergen. I think it somehow shows the dynamics of the glaciers up here. It was almost as I could see how it moved towards me, a tiny photographer in the greatest landscape of all. I was small but I was happy.
