Roy Mangersnes - Arctic Fox in spring
In early June, there is still a lot of ice on the fjords of northern Spitsbergen, and snow covers the mountains. I was on our small expedition vessel waiting for a Polar bear mum and her cub to wake up when I spotted a movement var out out on the ice. With my binoculars I could see the Arctic Fox, in his changing coat, running back and forth as if he was trying to find a safe way to cross the shattered ice. As he was getting closer to a small mountain in the mist I pointed my lens in his direction and grabbed a couple of shots. In retrospect I think this picture was a lot more interesting then the ones I ended up getting of the Polar bear this evening.
