Sepp Hackhofer - Autumn-colors, Dolomites

In the Northern Dolomites, the forest border arrives up to 2300m of altitude. On this image you can see Larch (Larix decidua) which loose their needles in autumn and get a beautiful orange color in Autumn, Swiss stone pine (Pinus cembra) the strong dark green plants very resistent to the Cold and only very few Spruce (Picea abies) combined with Dwarf pine (Pinus mugo), the smaller dark green on the left side. What i really like on this image is the shape of the trees and the pattern that is well accentuated with the frost. The Image has been taken from a mountain top just before sunrise. This beauty is quite elusive and lasts only until first sunrays are warming up the trees. I was waiting for a long time for this occasion.
