Niall Benvie - Bramble take-over

Sooner or later…Nature’s resistance to what we make an do is everywhere to be seen, but it hasn’t been enough to prevent our conversion of the planet to our own ends. According to an important new study just published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, of all the mammals on Earth, 96% are livestock and humans, while just 4% are wild. 70% of all the birds are poultry and the remainder are wild. Even although humans make up one thousandth of one percent of all the biomass on Earth (plants account for 82% of it), the a largely responsible for the mass extinction we’re sliding down into. Whether we’ll join so many other species remains to be seen but one thing is for sure; we’re going to be a pretty lonely species in centuries to come.
