Markus Varesvuo - Dipper doing what Dippers do

Even in the deepest, darkest northern winter, Dippers work tirelessly at the rapids, with high snow banking the river and ice forming on rocks jutting out of the water surface. This Dipper is standing on a rock just below the surface and dipping in to find insect food. But just as easily it will dive in and swim against the coursing water, searching for something to eat.

As long as there is open water, the Dipper stays despite the harsh wintry conditions that seem incredibly hostile for such a fragile creature.
