Niall Benvie - Kittiwakes trying to find a nest ledge
Many people visit Iceland to see the aurora, others are attracted to the glacial lagoons and beaches. For me, though, the most exciting places are the remote headlands where the north Atlantic hammers into the cliffs, such as here at Svörtuloft at the very end of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. When there is a big swell, the spray from the massive waves it spawns reaches 50 metres into the air in a display that is both awe inspiring and a little scary, especially as the shock of the wave is carried through the rocks to your feet.
