Heike Odermatt - After wildfire (2)

2 Years after a big wildfire at the natural heathland ‘Strabrechtse Heide’ (Netherland), where about 200 hectares of forest and heathland has been destroyed (over 10% of the total area), I visited this area several times. It was very interesting to see how the nature was revived after 2 years. At this time nature could still take its course and the dead forest and other dead trees were still there. Now the dead trees have been cleared and made way for a new nature management.
This image shows a solitary dead tree during sunset, when the lower sun gave the tree a red color like fire and the moon is watching.
