Sven Začek - Guess what!?

I have taken a few wacky pictures over my time, but I think this is one of the most surreal, because it is a straight shot. Usually, when I am doing tricks I use a slow shutter speed, deliberately leave the photo out of focus, or I do multiple exposure. But this has been taken straight on, no tricks. Can anyone venture a guess what’s on this photo? I will give you a hint – it has been taken from an airplane. That’s the only one you get.

Nope, Florian. Although freezing is indeed what is going on here, but where?

Is it ice on the window of the plane.

No, Helga! It is taken from an airplane, not of the airplane :). It is pure nature, nothing human made in the picture.

Freezing sea/lake. Still some open spots.

You got it Markus! That is the formation of sea ice, far out on the open sea.

I thought it was snow-covered wetland with half-frozen lakes... Very nice. And I love when a straight shot can surprise, as it is difficult...
