Jaak Põder - Adult spider and kid spider

Raft spiders are among spider species who protect their young. I have seen how they stay on guard of their freshly hatched when they are still in a tight ball, but this I have not witnessed before. Pond skaters were trying to catch young raft spiders on water surface. Some they caught, some they did not. This youngster managed to get away from skaters and found its hiding place near the adult spider. I kinda like to think it was its mother even though I don’t have any proof of it.
