Theo Bosboom - Fire victim

This caterpillar was one of the victims of the big fire in National Park De Hoge Veluwe – close to my hometown Arnhem – a couple of weeks ago. The big animals got away, but a lot of the smaller ones didn’t. Because there was a lot of wind that day, the fire went through the fields with a high speed. It is probably the reason the caterpillar is not totally burned and black. The good thing is that nature is recovering with an amazing speed now, the black fields are getting green again in a very high tempo.
