Werner Bollmann - Emerald Eyes

At the moment the bird cliffs of the North are still deserted, storm-tossed and snow-covered. But in some weeks the first residents will be back – kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbills and many other species will fill the air with their rough calls. Shags belong to the biggest birds on the cliffs. They use to nest in the lower parts of the slopes between big boulders. Only in breeding season they show there funny little feather crown which gives them a somehow clownish appeal.
