Zoltán Gergely Nagy - White pair

I had a great time working with these highly adapted birds in the mountains of Scotland, together with some great friends who were kind enough to share some of their local knowledge. There are records of a small population of Rock Ptarmigans that lived in the Carpathian mountains of Romania too, just over a hundred years ago, that went extinct probably due to a mixture of hunting and changes in the habitat. For me this fact just made my first encounter that little bit more special.
