Zoltán Gergely Nagy - Autumn gathering

The start of autumn brings thousands of starlings into the UK from mainland Europe because of the milder temperatures, and many of these birds end up in the town of Blackpool, on the coast of the Irish Sea. Here, the birds group together in large flocks under the coastal piers every night during the colder autumn and winter days, and their daily jouneys to and from their roosting sites provide an amazing spectacle, a somewhat bizarre one, in the context of a busy city center.

Thank you so much! True, I did enjoy writing about the scene, but I should have pointed it out that in the picture the starlings are resting on the beach, and are not under the pier yet.
