Zoltán Gergely Nagy - Lost in winter

Waxwing – a bird that I really wanted to have my own visions of during this winter, but didn’t have the chance to photograph, until I had an unexpected encounter high up in the Ceahlau Massif in Romania. With much milder conditions at the foothills of the mountains, I was surprised to see them at nearly 1800 meters. They didn’t seem to be bothered at all by the harsh weather, and flew back into the foggy forest right after a few whistles of their characteristic song. Truly birds of the North.
