Bruno D'Amicis - Summer hedgehog (CC)

This is an old image of mine that I still like somehow. On a hot summer day of August 2007 I went to visit a local conservationist who was releasing a family of rescued hedgehogs into a natural preserve: mother and four babies. She asked me to take some pictures, so I laid down on my belly and took some close-up and more environmental shots of the family in the fabulous light of that afternoon. I really like this one, where the animal is backlit and this enhanced the appearance of the spikes. (Picture taken under controlled conditions)
