Heike Odermatt - Mammatus

One week ago I was in Switzerland for a short trip to the Niederhorn. It is the first trip for me into the mountains for a very long time, so I was very glad that I could go. From there you have a great view over the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn region (UNESCO World Heritage). Late in the evening the weather changed quickly and just before the storm came we got some very special clouds, named mammatus or mammatocumulus. These are cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud.
