Alex Mustard - Monochrome Stingray

I have taken many, many photographs of the southern stingrays in Grand Cayman. They are very friendly because tourists feed them regularly, although I prefer not to take any bait when I go there as it can turn into a melée. I prefer less encounters, but more peaceful scenes like this one.
This was taken early in the morning when the light was still flat, ideal conditions for monochrome. Once the sun is higher all you see underwater are the light patterns and the chance to use the ripples in the image is gone. I allowed the ripples dominate this composition.
