Alex Mustard - Mysteries Of The Deep

I’m inspired by some of the other wonderful images here to share something more abstract. I suspect it will be a photo that will divide opinion. It shows bar jacks feeding on plankton above a coral reef at night.

I like the colours, the light, the abstraction and the mystery in this photo but, my eyes keep searching for a recognizable object (as you wrote that I'm looking at bar jacks) which I can not find.

Very cool indeed. I had to google to confirm my suspicion that bar jacks are actually fish, though...

Interesting and mysterious shot Alex, the colours are beautiful and you keep looking at it, wondering what it is. I am curious if it could be even better when the fish were a bit more recognizable. And I wonder how you took the shot, did you use an under water tripod or did you handheld the shot (1,3 seconds!) ?
