Emmanuel Boitier - The friend

For me, ‘friend’ means like a tribute to one of my favourite photographers, Michael Kenna. He uses to say that he likes handing on to the same locations, years after years, to visit places which he appreciates, as he visits friends. Of course, I do not claim to compare myself with the master, but I like the idea to consider certain places or elements of the landscape as being a part of our dailylife, just as friends.

Like many photographers, I’ve got places which I don’t miss to visite at the first opportunity. I also have favourite subjects, so as this pine tree that I have already photographed many times. It is nice to be able to follow certain landscapes or elements of the landscape as time goes by. Kenna says about a japanese tree located at the edge of a pond which he has (magnificently!) photographed several years: “it ages, I also age, we age together”.

Hi! This was really a beautiful picture! The tree looks like an alive person who's talking :) Of course you can compare yourself with masters like Michael Kenna. Congratulations!
    Best wishes,

Emmanuel, I like your thoughts here and of course, your image too. I know exactly that kind of light and atmosphere. A nice post, thank you!
