Meelis Kivirand - Pack ice

This summer I spent exploring Greenland by kayak adventure. Paddling among ice packs was the most powerful experience. Every moment the condition and circumstances of ice could change. On one hand the flood tide pushed ice towards the glacier and in the other hand glacier forced back new ice packs. It was rather hard to find access. Not seldom we had to ram the ice. Sometimes it was impossible to get through so we had to back out and find a new passage. The fear of falling into the ice cold water kept adding adrenaline.

Seems like an incredible place to me. I'd love to go there myself, but I am not sure if I would try kayaking between the ice packs.

If I was in situation like that in a small vessel, taking pictures would probably have been the last thing on my mind.
