Werner Bollmann - Autumn Impression

This year it would have been impossible to make an image of autumn leaves – at least here in Kiel where I live. No intensive colors, dry leaves, very disappointing from a photographic point of view. But it 2009 when I made this image we had an autumn at it’s best! At this special day the wind was blowing very hard and I tried to do some longtime exposures. At the end I wasn’t too satisfied with the results. So I tried something additional: I zoomed into the moving leaves, and while zooming I heavily shook the camera. Well, maybe a little bit kitschy, but all in all I like the result.

It looks like a painting. I like the result, too.

"Strokes in the autumn". Is what I see when I look to this picture. Very impressive!!

This works very well for me because the image is about subject and not the technique (too often in these shots all you end up seeing is the technique and not the image). There is also an excellent balance between impressionist and realism, and I like how these are unevenly distributed through the frame.

WOW! Werner, this is incredible. What I like the most is the complete palette of colors. Greetings from the COSEC...;-)))))

This is Jackson Pollock with the touch of Claude Monet at its best. Absolutely great stuff, Werner!

Delicate, and it should be a great inspiration for painters :)

Very nice work, Werner! Love it :)

Very nice Werner, a picture you keep looking at. I fully agree with Alex about the technique and the subject: this picture is not just a technical trick, the result is beautiful as well.
