Werner Bollmann - Jungle Ghost

It is really true: Every new habitat requires a new way of looking. For me it was the first time I was working in a tropical rainforest, and at the beginning it was really hard to find something to take pictures of. But after quite a while my eyes got used to the dusky conditions and suddenly I saw life everywhere: caterpillars, spiders, termites, ants and lots of different mantis species. In this picture I tried to transport the very special atmosphere of the forest floor where deep shadows and single light spots create a spooky scenery.

Nice composition and posture of the mantis. Especially I like the light spots which gave this photo the right atmosphere.

Dear Werner, this is so great! It gives the prowling mantis the right atmosphere. I feel it is almost a leaf changing form. A great picture, really!
