Sven Začek - Approaching storm

I am continuing with a picture from my recent trip to Iceland. This is the famous Jökulsarlon beach that is know for its black sands and ice crystals. This photo was taken before sunrise and the glow you see on the foreground ice block is actually that of a full moon just above the picture. On the left side you can see an approaching dark rain clouds, the change in weather that would mean the next two days were completely rainy. I love being amongst the elements and changing weather is always a blessing for a landscape photographer.

I agree with Sandra. The light and the mood are very nice. It seems you had a great time there!

I'm just trying to get a perspective of how big the crystals are!?!?!?

Yes, I had a good time and some nice moments with light. The ice was bigger than I thought. This was around half a metre wide and 30-40cm high. I had seen photos before and thought these are small, maybe 15cm, but I was wrong and it was quite a sight.
