Sven Začek - A Display of Northern Lights

I think I have mentioned this before, but I’ll say it again. I am a huge fan of nighttime photography. Needless to say that for any nighttime photographer a display of very intensive Northern Lights is the same as an extremely red sunrise is for a landscape photographer. Being in love with both of these types of photograhy I know what I am talking about 🙂 My first visit to Iceland was great and among other things I was looking forward to night photograhy without any light pollution, that is very common here in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe. So I was really over the moon that my first night in Iceland greeted me with Northern Lights running around over the sky. Thank you!

Very nice Sven, I am jealous ;-) It is technically very well executed, which is not so easy as it might look.

Very well done. The internet is flooded with auroras these days, but I rarelys see any interesting foregrounds. This is a stunningly beautiful exception, and your Wild Wonders-shot of snow-covered spruce trees in Finland is another favourite of mine.

Wow...what an excellent picture with a special foreground; it's like two pictures captured in one.

Thank you! No matter where I photograph, be it in the air on board a helicopter or an airplane or be it at night, I always try to capture the greater scene to give perspective. I am glad to hear that I might have been successful here :)

It's the first great image I've seen of auroras with a stunning foreground. So I agree 100% with the other commentors.

This is very good! Ice crystals make this photo more than normal northern light -photos!
