Roy Mangersnes - Good morning Hippo

I have really fallen in love with African wildlife, and the African light. I believe this image showing a Hippo at sunrise shows what I love about it. It is taken at a lagoon in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. I was laying on my belly near the waters edge, and the Hippos were getting rather curious about this strange creature in the mud. As they came closer I could get my shot. Instead of including the actual sunrise I was focusing on the nice reflections in the vegetation in front of me, and the colors of the water.

I love this picture Roy. There is a lot of tension in it and the light and the composition are great. It must have been risky as well, as these guys can be very agressive and are much faster than you would expect.

Real nice Roy, I must say I admire your courage, laying flat out and focus on the reflection while a Hippo is approaching you. Well done.
