Theo Bosboom - Beached iceblock

If you have great light on a great location, it is not difficult to make nice pictures. The beach near the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon on Iceland is such a location. It is a magical place, different every day and interesting in every season and in every type of weather. I have visited the place many times, but I never had such a beautiful sunrise as this morning in september. I put my tripod as low as possible to emphasize the size of the iceblock, to hide the sun behind it and to include as much sky as possible. I waited for waves rolling back, so that the sky was reflected on the wet sand. In the meantime I tried to prevent that my camera (and I) would be caught by a big wave, as the ocean can be pretty rough out there.

I stayed there, really a magic place, perfectly reproduced in light and atmosphere.

Very well done, Theo! I like the way the iceblock fills the gap between the clouds.

I remember this from your show at the GDT last year. Great! One of the most compelling images from Iceland!
