Dieter Damschen - Full Moon
Cranes are my main subject of photography. During their migration-period from september to november I mostly spend my time in northern Germany, on taking pictures at the resting places. With a little luck, there are two to three chances, in this period of time, to get them in front of full moon. This picture shows the cranes on their flight to their sleeping place in Linum, a small town close to Berlin, on the evening of 14th of october 2008. The next morning, there was a counting and the result was a number of more than 86.000 cranes, staying in this area.

Oh, that's hard to see - they are going northwards and I have to stay. Beautiful mood!

WOW and WOW! Stunning photo! I have seen quite a lot of such kind and wanted to capture one myself, but there are always only too few birds. But here the amazing size of the moon and the quantity of the birds make this picture. Who said that central composition doesn't work. Yeah, right!
