Meelis Kivirand - Fight

Along with the arriving spring migrating Slavonian Grebes fight for the best mates and nesting places. Mostly the fight involves scaring off the rivals. Usually the birds lower their heads close to the water level and swim towards the rival in a scary manner. Just as well they can approach the rival by diving and shocking the swimmer under the water. Sometimes the fight can take a more tragic way.

Great light and fog. Is this a moment before they get together or after?

It was one of the most physically challenging fights I have ever seen and it lasted a long time. This moment is captured when the fight was halfway through.
