Luciano Gaudenzio - Dipper, “sprite” of alpine streams

 

Every year in this season I spend whole days observing and photographing the dipper (Cinclus cinclus) the “sprite” of alpine streams.
In this image, I tried to communicate the serenity of an alpine dawn, when dipper, before starting his frenetic activity at nest, relaxing his-self on the favourite rock, singing….

    It is very strange to see dippers on rocks without snow and ice. That is because here we only have them as winter visitors.

    Sven, some early ones arrive in some years when the leaves are still yellow-red :-P. Dipper is fun, I've been following them during few winters and probably will during the upcoming ones.
